We are the Northshore's First Community Land Trust

Northshore Housing Initiative is our area’s first Community Land Trust (CLT), a non-profit community organization that makes the dream of homeownership an affordable reality for qualifying individuals and families.

Through a generous grant from the State of Louisiana and St. Tammany Parish Government, we help low- to moderate-income homebuyers live and work in St. Tammany Parish. Many essential service workers, teachers, medical workers, and first responders live outside of the parish because of rising St. Tammany land prices.

The CLT model allows low- to moderate-income homebuyers to purchase a home while the CLT invests in ownership of the land. The land is leased to the homebuyer by NHI for a nominal fee and a a resale appreciation formula that preserves affordability for the next buyer.
